“You expose me,” said the cave to the lamp. I stood quietly to listen as the discussion progressed.
Surprised and annoyed, the lamp exclaimed, “Expose you?! I am only doing my job!”
The cave gave off a cold scoff through its rocks, angered by the lamp’s audacious comment, “Don’t you see all my cracks? My rugged presence is disgusting.”
At that moment, I realized I had been holding my breath in anticipation. Then, the Lamp calmly, but firmly, stated, “Oh Cave, my light is meant to illuminate your magnificent structure. Your wrinkly surface is not something to hide. I exist for others to admire you.”
A tear rolled down my cheek. Their conversation reminded me of the times when fear leads us to trade light for darkness. When, truly, our vulnerabilities should be admired—not hidden. Let His light shine. Don’t be ashamed of others admiring the unique creation that you are.
